My 3 week old New Hampshire Red chick may have slipped a tendon, but she only has the slightest limp. I didn't even really notice until the past few days. She is pretty quiet and tends to cuddle down with 2 younger chicks, but when she walks, if you watch carefully, she has a slightly limp. I've tried to get a better look at it, by she doesn't like it much. Her leg isn't red and the joint looks only slightly larger than the other. She also stretches that leg and her wing, just like the other chicks.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to do. I'm new with chickens and don't really want to cull an otherwise healthy chick if I don't need to. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the top of the page under Home, and do a search for slipped tendon. Read a few threads with pictures. Then Google "poultry pedia podiatry" and click on that link. There is a section on fixing a slipped achilles tendon. This defect is difficult to correct, but I hope you are successful.
