Hi all, hope I’m posting in the correct area.

Yes, I am new to raising chickens and I’m concerned now about a few of them.
yesterday I noticed on 2 of my amber stars that it looks like they have red eyeliner on and a red spot right above the eye that looks like blood.
A couple of other chicks have a single red dot on the edge of eyelid. I read here all day yesterday and the info I came up with was to use terramycin. Bought it and applied it yesterday .i also called the hatchery where I got the chicks for help in identifying what this is and I sent pics. The reply I got was “we think this may be a symptom of being newly hatched”. Possibly so?!? But I would like to know exactly what this is and if I am doing the right thing to help them!’
I am attaching pics. If anyone can identify what this is I would appreciate it :)

:welcome Any possibility they are injuring themselves on their feeder or that one or more of the group are pecking at eyes ?

I guess it is a possibility. I put a new type of waterer in the brooder the day before to make sure they are getting plenty. Perhaps they are bumping their heads on the edge? It’s the plastic upside down jar fitted to a saucer. Just want to be sure it’s not some type of virus.
a friend of a friend raises bantams down the road and they looked at pics and said maybe the beginning of fowl pox. I just can’t find where fowl pox starts this way. Hopefully they are incorrect!!

sorry I responded back to you yesterday but didn’t use reply button. Thanks for suggestion. I removed that particular waterer and the sore looking areas are much better!! They were being pecked at near eyes but then again the area was red and possibly attracting others to it.
