Our 3 yr old duck likes to fight dogs thru fence - last night bill was shattered top and bottom 1/3. We were able to stop the bleeding and duck is resting calmly this morning. The bill pieces are just hanging and he keeps shaking his head which causes bleeding to start. We have him in a small crate to keep him still but not sure what to do going forward?

Wow! Some ducks are just braver then they should be. ;)
If you can go to a vet, you should get the rest of that bill removed so it can heal. Your duck will probably also need antibiotics. If you can gently flush the bill with warm water and very mild soap solution it will help clean it up of bacteria from the dog. Your duck can do fine with partial bill, but will have to learn to eat and drink again once it's healed.

He is very brace (mean) and does not like dogs. He chases my German shepherds around the yard but this was a small dog we are fostering. I'm not sure that this damage was mostly from thrashing through the fence. I flushed it with Arnica Tea but wanted to calm him down before I did too much clean up. The pieces are attached to fleshy pieces so is was afraid to pull them off. My husband will have a fit if I take him to a vet but I will see what I can do. Thanks so much!! I can get antibiotics at feed store and I have some VetRX
