3 Year Old Hen Dead

    I had a 3year old r&r hen that has been laying very large eggs 1 every day. I went out to get the eggs yesterday, got the eggs but noticed she was laying in the corner of the run Listless. When i picked her up about 3 ins. of her egg laying guts was hanging out of her butt. She died about 4 hours later. Has anyone had this happy to their hens, and what my have caused this?
    Please Help 4est

    It sounds like she was egg bound. There often is little that you can do to prevent a hen from dying of this. I am sorry for your loss.

    I'm so sorry!! [​IMG] It sounds like prolapse... really nothing you can do to prevent it. If you catch it soon enough you can sometimes push it back in. [​IMG]
