I’m starting to get worried! I don’t know how she died, and my family members didn’t want to necropsy so I couldn’t, but I wanted peace of mind, even if it’s just being told a possibility
My 3 year old Red Sex link had lethargy, she was puffed up like a circle, but not SQUATTING, so I didn’t think it was bounding at first, but I checked to see. I felt no eggs in her, her abdomen was big though, swollen. She was eating and drinking, but in not the quantities as she normally would (pig, she was a pig), and she would often meander around (ignoring food) if she wasn’t just standing. She was laying around a lot, but moving so much. She wouldn’t even take food from the hand, and she used to do that frequently. Yesterday morning, I had to manually take her out because she was standing, but not aching to move, and when I sat her down, she didn’t move for a good bit until I pet her.
I unfortunately don’t have pictures, especially given I was going to go take her immediately to the vet on Monday, but I never got the chance to. By this morning she passed on.
For extra info: she was given medicine from a vet a week prior. She had only a very very close to gone respiratory illness, barely hearable with stethoscope. She was underweight, but she was fine otherwise. She was tested for bacteria and parasites, but came back negative.
She even started looking way better on the medicine up until Friday/Saturday. Saturday she completely went downhill. I was giving her something for dehydration in case she needed it and I had checked her, even bringing her inside so she would be separated, but she just did not have an egg. She just looked very big. She felt heavy even when she died.
I don’t know how a bird could go from normal to just gone in a week, especially a bird that just came from the vet.
I was worried this was internal laying, or if it’s a big possibility given her hybrid status?
