3 - Year old Silkie laying soft eggs

If they won't go for the oyster shells then I would definately give them crushed eggs shells. Whenever I use any eggs I keep the shells, pop them in the oven for a few minutes and once they've cooled I crush them up. The chickens seem to like them for some reason. You could also see if they like yogurt.

We also feed our layers baked egg shells. Also sometimes scramble or boil extra eggs for them. They are free range, so probably get calcium from grass etc. So far we haven't had a soft shell problem.
