Over a month has gone by, days are shorter, and the temperature is lower. AND THE HENS ARE BACK LAYING.
What we did...
Bumped up their protein/fat intake significantly with an 18% gamebird feed, more daily scratch, more oyster shell, and more black oil sunflower seeds.
Zero light supplementing.
Went from 0 eggs for 3.5 months back to about a dozen per day. I'd attribute the rest to taking the winter off, or finishing up a molt.
If you think something isn't quite right about your flock - trust your gut instead of taking advice from other people. Not saying that chickens won't decrease production seasonally, but this was beyond a seasonal occurrence.
