30 hens When to switch to Layer Food?

Hello All..

I am curious when to start my hens on Layer food . They are 12 weeks old.
Also what else other than the layer food do i give them?

It depends on the brand of feed you have. Some may say switch at 18-20 weeks maybe, others say not to feed it until the onset of laying. So, check the directions on it and see what it what it recommends.

Some people give out oyster shell, it helps keep the shell hard.

My feed directions say 18 wks and I plan to start weaning with a 50/50 mix at 17 wks. Birds are now 15 wks on 15% grower/finisher and free range and are doing remarkably well.
