I was in the spare bedroom (with the brooder in it and classical music radio in the background) watering some plants that will eventually go in the garden, when all of a sudden a ruckus begins to eminate from the brooder.
Now, they can see me, but I've been in the room for 5 minutes and they are only 3 weeks old and are plenty involved in being adolescents and chattering amongst each other.
The ruckus. I give a low whistle, and snap my fingers once.
Dead silence! Every head turned! It was great!! 30 little eyes, wide and bright pointed right at me. I couldn't help but laugh, and they went about their chattering. I was hooked.
15 RIR's are as happy and healthy as ever, with special thank to Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens and the BYC forum. Every question I've had so far, has already been asked somewhere on the forum. Had to look around for some, but found it all.
Just wanted to share the story and say Thank You!!
My first flock, but definitely not my last. Just wait til you see my Chicken Tractor. It's gonna pull wheelies!!
