Just checking in with other EE owners. This is not my first EE hen, but definately my first EE pullet to not lay an egg by 30 weeks.

Is this common to this breed and I've just been lucky in the past????? She better start earning her keep soon! :-)

Personally, I never expect a hen to start laying this time of year. In my experience, if they haven't started in November, they're not gonna lay until March.

GOOD TO KNOW!!!!! I thought about that, but my other pullets same age, started laying early December. Different breeds though.

It's probably due to the season.

I know this thread is a few days old, but I just wanted to say that it is possible she will lay. My EE was 30-something (I gave up keeping count) weeks when she laid her first egg in late Nov/early Dec. Has been laying 3-4x's a week since.

I did not think my ameraucana was laying, she is an EE, but she was hiding her eggs. She must have started at about 22 weeks around mid December.

KristyAz, you've got me beat. My little EE Dovie is about 34 weeks old and not laying yet. Good thing she is so cute and friendly, otherwize, well...........
