The buff is beautiful. The silver laced have the edge to me, though. It just peeves me no end that someone would intentionally inflate the price to keep them out of my range.

That is a good word - "PEEVE". Just sounds annoying, doesn't it?

So I should have to pay a lot for the eggs and not get to protect my investment? Sorry if you feel that way, they probably would have gone for near that price anyway with last minute bidding and emotion, but I wanted to avoid being "Peeved" that someone got the same thing I did at over half price

No, they wouldn't have.

You felt you just had to have those eggs so you paid a premium price.

Making everybody else pay more than they would otherwise need to by artificially inflating the price "to protect your investment" is a fairly shoddy thing to do, in my opinion. Stating that you will do so for a good long time is just deplorable.

You don't see Jon Burton behaving in this disgraceful fashion.

You should be pleased and contented to have obtained such a lovely and unique thing and not be interfering in others ability to do the same.

Shame on you.

Dan, can't wait to see how the SL/BL cross turns out. They should be nothing less than spectacular!

I beg your pardon Mr. Powell. I don't believe anyone is questoning the love, time and money you have poured into creating your beautiful birds. I truly hope you get return on them by auctioning your eggs through BYC.

As a matter of reference I would like to give kudos to Dan Powell. I have purchased birds from Dan in the past and been very pleased with the birds and the condition of them. I can attest first hand as to the hardiness of his birds in general and to his project Brahmas in particular. I live in Northern Minnesota where minus 20 to minus 30 can routinely happen for several days at a time, and although I have not had these birds in a heated coop I have never lost one due to cold or the elements. The Brahma project birds have been good layers of large eggs. I don't think you can go wrong in purchasing birds or eggs from Dan. He is a man of integrity who willingly shares his knowledge of chickens and genetics. It seems to me that he genuinely loves the birds and his projects developing unique color varieties. I have been to Dan's farm and seen these Buff Laced Brahmas first hand. They are better than they look in photos.

Wow, How in the heck do you come up with these colors?
When doing things like this is there a lot of out crossing to different breeds to get the color type then selecting for the brahma traits or which ever breed your going for?
Very interesting how some folks really have a grasp of this.
Best wishes,
Angela

These birds are gorgeous and I'm quite certain that if given the opportunity, your critics would happily sell similarly priced eggs.
Good luck!
