Mr Roo is 34 weeks and still not mating with my hens, he's not even crowing! I've seen him attempt to mate twice about a month ago but he wasn't successful, both those attempts he didn't try to mate unless the hen squatted for him first. It's good he's so polite and nice to my hens but I'm getting impatient because I want to hatch fertile eggs from them soon :)
Does anyone know what I can do to speed it up?
Are there any foods I could feed him that will help?
My friends roo started mating at 16 weeks I think. What ages did everyone else's roosters start mating?

He was introduced to the laying hens when he was 8 weeks, they are a little older but they all get along very well with him and they lay every day
He may be more hesitant coming into older hens as opposed being raised with them. Wyandotte in my experiences are slow to mature. The 2 Wyandotte roosters I had didn't do much mating until they were closer to a year, than they became very obnoxious and were sent to the freezer. I personally won't be trying anymore Wyandotte roosters.

Oh dear I really hope that won't be the case with my roo. He's so sweet at the moment and looks after the girls. He's also the first chick I ever hatched so I'll be quite sad if that's the outcome:(

Wyandotte generally take 2 years to fully mature. So he's still a teenager. I may have just had bad luck with the breed. Give him time. He may take until next spring before he's feeling more like the man of the flock.

Have you been checking eggs for fertility? He may be mating them when you’re not around.
Yes I've definitely had a look. No proper bullseyes, i even incubated 10 of the eggs from the hens I saw him try and mate with but none were fertile unfortunately :(
