I am selling some cream legbar chicks for a friend of mine who lives in Texas. She set 50 eggs into her incubator and just candled. Out of 50, 46 of the eggs are growing perfectly! She cannot keep all these chicks so I am listing them here for anyone wanting to buy a group of cream legbar chicks. Of course, I would rather sell the chicks in as large a group as possible. So, the person with the best offer and who wants to buy the most chicks will get them. I may be able to work out a deal if you want all of the chicks. These chicks are hatching on Christmas Eve. They would make a nice Christmas Present!
Females are $30 each
Males are $7 each.
I may be able to work out something if somebody wants to buy the chicks "straight run." This means that you will just buy all the chicks that hatch from the 46 eggs regardless of gender for a set price. I am open to offers. Just let me know.
Here is some information on the chicks:
Cream legbars are medium-sized fowl that are auto-sexing and lay a beautiful sky blue egg. auto-sexing chicken breeds like the cream legbar produce visually sexable chicks generation after generation, which means anyone can tell the sex of the chick immediately after hatching.
The male Cream Legbar chicks have a pale dot on their head and have little or no eye barring. The female Cream Legbar chicks, the hens, have a dark brown or black stripe on their head which continues down the body with clear eye barring. They are a very inquisitive breed and quick to explore new places. Cream Legbars were developed in the 1930's in Cambridge by crossing Brown Leghorns, Barred Plymouth Rocks and Araucana (for the egg colour). They are a rare breed and are covered by the Rare Poultry Society. They lay 180+ eggs per year, this is probably due to their leghorn ancestry.
The cream legbar was originally imported by Greenfire farms.
The parents are from every available line from Greenfire. So, the chicks are very diverse genetically.
