We went to the salebarn this evening to see about getting our son a bunny & ended up bringing home a 3day old bronze chick. This is our 1st turk but have lots of chickens & chicks (the baby is nowhere near the chicks). The thing is, it's all alone & keeps chirping for me to hold him! He/she has a light & bedding to stay warm but will not stop until he/she sees me or hears our voice. Right after my husband bid/bought him I told him to go & get him/her now b/c it's chilly here tonight & didn't want it getting cold. I put him/her in my jacket on my chest to stay warm & the little terd maneuvered it's way into the v-neck part of my shirt & passed out for 2hrs. Since being home & in the box he/she hadn't stopped chirping & idk what to do. PLZ HELP ME I NEED SLEEP!!

Poor thing IS lonely and scared to death. In nature a lone chick would be a DEAD chick so that has to cause a great deal of stress for him.

You said you have other chicks? Can you at least put them nearby for now? Maybe separate a brooder and put the chicks next to him where he can hear/see them? Or go get another one? Seems cruel to keep that baby all alone and crying.

Also if you want sleep swap out the heat light for a CHE (ceramic heat emitter, commonly used with reptiles, bulb fits in regular heat lamp fixtures). It give off NO light just heat so at night when you turn the lights out he is warm but in the pitch dark, he will sleep all night quietly once you settle him into bed. Being awake all night under a red heat light and freaking out because he is by himself is only making things worse. I switched to this after 2 days with my chicks so they would sleep quietly and more naturally at night.

He/she is doing much better now. My chicks are to big to be w/ & don't need as much heat as my turk. All they had was one turkey poult forsale at the poultry sale so it was either we get him & know that he's taken care of or let somebody else get him & probably put him w/ chicks that could've possibly contracted CRD from tier mother since they're were having a problem w/ that until we brought it to the attention of the owners. If I could've gotten another poult for him/her I would've. I have never been cruel to any of my animals & never will so I don't like being accused of it.
