So Laree... when do I come to pick them up? I'm guessing you have to work today.

And you can have one of the SFs It can grow up with your Alohas.... and we'll pray the three of them are pullets.

Oh, and if your's ends up being a roo and I get two pullets, then I'll give you one of the pullets.

I woke up to chicks.

1 Olive Egger (first one out)
1 bargain EE
5 Icelandics.

5 pipped (1 bargain EE [the last one... the other 12 went to meg], 1 w/bwAm, 3 Icelandics)
7 yet to pip.

I'll be putting in 24+ purebred Ameraucana eggs next Thursday.. most coming from WhiteMountainRanch for a January 26th Hatch date and then I won't be putting any more in until March 17th for the Easter Hatch.

I think I'm there with you girls.

I have ducks, chicks, and 4 incubators cooking away. Hubby walks around mimicking that scene from the movie Labyrinth (kids watched it last week) saying, "Smells baaaaaaad" in a weird muppet voice. I pretend not to hear him.

I think I'll enclose the Banty Shanty in 6 mil clear plastic today and move one of the EcoGlows and a warmer hood out there for the chicks and the ducklings. The temps have been very warm for here, and it'll be a greenhouse for them during the day. Even if I have to bring them back in at night, it's still getting them out of here during the day. Oy!

Wow, looks like I missed some excitement yesterday. Congrats on all the new chicks.

Gotta run to Anchorage, my kids are flyin home

see ya in a couple hours!

That's funny, when I said "maybe" my son would get excited. He said, maybe always meant "yes, just don't bug me right now".

When my sweet hubby says "Maybe" that's a definite yes

Llamas are selling for anywhere from $30-$100 at local auctions here in SW MO.

Can you pop some in a box and ship 'em to me? They are around $500 - $1000+ if you can find them here.

I have an alpaca you can have, come and get him.

Deb

I have pippies. I think my eggs have been sneaking in and taking a peek at this thread and didn't want to be the last to hatch. I've only been hatching since September of this year, but EVERY single hatch has pipped and hatched on day 20, not day 19.

Oh, Australia...Hello, ***smacks forehead*** I just realized you're from the Land of Oz or, the way I see it, The Land of Exceptional Animals. I'll send you a dozen llamas in return for a shiglebacked skink, a thorny devil, a Gallah cockatoo, a black cockatoo, etc. Ya'll have the most wonderful wildlife, not to mention the most # of venomous snakes in THE world. Australia is most herpers' DREAM vacation.....including this one.

Quote:
I go to an animal auction once a month and there's always between 1 and 4 llamas and none ever go for more than $100, that is if they sell at all. Even the ponies are selling for paltry amounts of money. I have a friend who has been given 4 horses this year....3 of them nice riding horses and one that has never been broke to ride. I expected them to be killers, unridable or something and had to witness the 3 he said were nice being ridden for myself.

No worries, I just reached right in and took 'em, peeled them off and she didn't do a thing. I'm more afraid of reaching under my hens than a snake this small. The hens nearly draw blood!

It's a ball python, or royal python as they call it in the U.K.

Quote:
Those eggs were from a few years ago and all 10 hatched and I kept all the female babies which are big enough to breed this year. If I get eggs, they'll be laid in April or May, 2012. It takes 55-60 days for python eggs to hatch.

Quote:
That is fantastic. I can hardly wait to see the pictures.

I have a dismal hatch rate on shipped eggs, but I'm gonna keep on trying, my auction Barbain silkie eggs are at the P.O. right now and I gotta go get 'em.

Oh and when I had my humidity that high I was getting a lot of chicks that pipped and then died in shell out of every hatch. I did research on here and I'm now doing the dry hatch method and my lockdown humidity is 60% so hopefully I won't have as many die after they pip. It's really discouraging to get a chick all the way to hatch and have it die.

Quote:
It sure has and today is looking like it's gonna be a nice, warm one. Feels so much like spring that I have to remind myself it's almost January!

I think I'm there with you girls.

Add me to this fine mix of hatchers. Three incubators and 3 different sets of chicks with the NYD chicks pipped and more eggs already in the bators and more going in the bator tomorrow or Sunday.
