3rd Annual NYD Hatch "Designer" Egg Swap Thread

Oh. Those are snake eggs... yah... i remember 9catsz saying that.....

LOL...yeah you're gonna be surprised when those slither out of their eggs.....Did ya'll know that, just like chickens, snakes have a teeny tiny egg tooth on the tip of their snouts so they can pip? In snake-eze it's not called a pip, it's called a slit....because that's exactly what it looks like a slit in the egg. The egg tooth falls off soon after hatching, just like in chickens.

Silkies are correct....I sent you silkie eggs which also could be showgirls, and 1 or 2 pure blue splash wyandotte bantams, and 1 or 2 which are silver penciled cochin x blue splash wyandotte bantam. .... I've got some of the silver pencil x wyandotte that will hatch next week. I can't wait to see what those turn out to be.

Here's pic of my wyandotte bantys...I love these guys/gals....You can practically sex them at 3 weeks of age.....I've found that the ones with the most splash-y markings as chicks are the roos.
Extra Roos that I ended up selling because these things fight anything....and they're smaller than silkies.

Thanks for giving me the eggs from those birds!

I hope that all the bantam eggs that you sent me hatch, so I can have some of each.

I only have 1 sebright hen that came with the Icelandic flock, and want more banties, so she can have some that are the same size.

Plus want an army of broodies.

Java?? Isn't that, like coffee? Do they produce caffeine laden eggs?? So fun to learn new birds.

and ummm, don't stress yourself over the

, if there are NNs, just let me laugh and poke fun at them... the experience would be a hoot, and drat it, I'll probably fall in the love with the goofy looking things.
my accidental acquiring of a goose made me learn that I

geese.

Honest, thanks for the eggs!!! I've never seen the EE eggs before, so it is way cool to have so much color in my incubator.

My eggs arrived from Cali. today.....Well packaged, none broke, and a nice Merry Christmas on it. Huge, huge eggs. I can't wait to see what hatches....any ideas on what they are?

They arrived at my p.o. yesterday and when I went to get them they told me that it was required that the delivery guy take them w/him on deliveries even though 1) They knew the box wouldn't fit in my mailbox and 2) The delivery guy knew he wasn't going to drive a half a mile down my driveway and deliver them to me.....And you wonder why the post office is going under!!! So they got a tour of backwoods MO yesterday.

That is C&%#. My PO calls me to pick up my eggs. I give them a heads up they are coming. My # is taped to the desk

and ummm, would you mind adding me to the google map? I don't have a google account and don't want one either. Thanks.

Just toss the marker somewhere between Orange Cove and the 180 in a eastern type direction. (somewhere in the foothills -- I'll let you know if you get it too close to reality

)

You are added. I am terrible with geography... i think I have you at least in the right state.

I was getting soooo worried about them!! Hope they didn't mind the tour.
If you want I'll post some pictures on the parents, but I've never hatched anything from this roo, so both your incubator and mine will be full of surprises.

The darkest eggs are from my Red Sex Link hen. She is my best layer, my oldest layer and she is very onrey. I have two of her babies from the previous roo, they are only 8 weeks old but they have sweet personalities so far. My biggest beef with this hen (Charles - my son named her 3 years ago) is she has to hide her eggs, and if I find the clutch and take all the eggs, she will find another hiding spot.

On the acre they free roam on it can take months for me to find the eggs.

The smaller eggs are from a silkie cross. Crossed with what, I don't know. A friend handed her off to me 2 months ago. She has an anger management problem - she keeps trying to peck me, but is an excellent layer.

The humongous eggs are from another bird which was handed off to me with the silkie cross, she is another red sex link but so far, bland personality, although her egg laying is very consistant. She either hides her egg in the nest with Charles or in the official nest box.

The Roo is a black sex link. Papa was a Buff Orpington (hatchery quality, but nice eye candy) and the momma was a Barred Rock (hatchery quality).

I think those were who the eggs came from... If we get something weird I'll re-evaluate.

Sorry I don't have any naked necks to toss in there. Maybe next year.

So glad none broke - especially since I was stingy!

Well, it is the right state! And in the right foothill range!

If you don't mind, you could slide the marker up so it is between Orange Cove and Squaw Valley - somewhere in the slightly darker purple area (if that makes sense) Thanks!! I've actually never been where the marker is currently pointed.
