We are one week in with our chicks and from the beginning I was concerned about one chick not using her right wing. Now that she's losing down and gaining feathers the problem's got me even more concerned as there is a marked difference in her wings. Her feathers are coming in nicely on the other side. She doesn't move the wing at all and I am hesitant to move it for her. I don't want her to be in any pain, firstly, but also I am concerned for her well being in the future if she doesn't have full use of both wings. My 'better half' thinks there is a protrusion at her 'shoulder' but I can't be sure. That area is without feathers and seems red, but I might just be skin colored. It's hard to tell.
Is is possible that the growing in of 'adult' feathers can immobilize a wing? Can she manage alright in our enclosed coop as an adult with full use of only one wing?
Thanks in advance.
