4 chicks

Hi guys,
I have 7 chickens 4 new 4 day old chicks. The broody regected them so they are indoors with us under a proper heat lamp. I was wondering they seem to be wanting to scratch and dust bath but were trying it in there food. Should I add an area for them to do this?

Hello and welcome to BYC

The chicks will love a dirt box to dust bath in. Any dry soil will do. If you can mix some wood ash or mite dust in there even better.

from California! My chicks take dust baths in their shavings, gonna have to get them a dust bath container.

You can if you like, but it is not nescessary and may make a dusty mess in your house.

They are being spoilt lol. I will try and upload pics but they are a buff orpington , a sumatra, silky and light Sussex no names yet dnt want to get too attached
