My mama R.I.R and her 3, 4-day old chicks were out in their fence when our puppy escaped from her yard and tried to go after them. She barked and went near the fence but did not end up clearing the fence. Mama hen, needless to say, was freaking out and flying at the fence. After we got the pup inside we went out and didn't see any of the three chicks. We dug through the leaves and eventually found all three. They seem to be alive and no sign of injuries yet. Mama hen was very distressed so we immediately gave the chicks over to her. She eventually settled down with them under her wings. The babies were very quiet and didn't try to run away as they usually would when we lifted them from the leaves. Can this kind of extreme stress harm them? Anything we should be on the lookout for? Thanks!
