4 day old ducklig started to huff

Have four day ouckling starting to huff( breathing too fast). Hatched under mom, but put under brooder light immediately at hatch. Fine until now. . Everyone else s fine. Not too hot. How do you medicate ducks. Do they get respiratory problems like chickens?

Do you have a water dish deep enough for it to dip it's head and clear it's nostrils?

In your brooder is there a place for them to move completely out of the heat range of the lamp?

Absolutely on both counts. This little guy seems to be a runt, not growing as fast as the rest. I wouldn't grow either if I couldn't breathe properly, but he does eat and drink. My next move is to try Oxine ah, waiting for it to come in, hope he can hold on. Seems to have a fair amount of energy, all considered. If the Oxine works, this will be the biggest breakthrough for me. The only babies I ever lose, ducks or chicks, seem to be from respiratory problems. Only one, once on a while, but it's still tuff to watch and not have a solution. Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated.

The waiting and unknown is so hard.....I always pull for the little ones, especially if they're firey and fighting as this one sounds.

I've not heard of Oxine but if it doesn't work I've had great luck with VetRx at least relieving respiratory symptoms and probiotics to support immunity until the rebound finally comes.

Thanks everybody! Here's an update. My little duck, and I do mean little, is growing a tiny bit. Nothing like the rest of the giants
that he lives with, but growing. He eats like a starving dog, drinks, and moves just as fast as the rest of the kids. But, he is still
huffing. The Oxine doesn't seem to be doing much. I make a tent for them and fog them for a while, then remove it and keep
the pen dry. (Still in the house.) No one else is having any trouble of any kind. Question; Do we think he's just deformed in some
way, does he have a chronic illness, and if so, why is he still alive and feeling great most of the time and growing? It has been my
experience that a bird with a birth defect doesn't last long or thrive or feel good and an illness would have killed him by now. It's
all a mystery to me. They have about til the end of this week in the house, then they've GOT to go outside in a protected pen.
Just too much duck aroma in my house! Thanks again, I'll keep ya'll informed.
