My chickens started laying sooner than expected. So, the nest boxes were not in yet, and they are still eating medicated chick feed.
I had one last bag to get through, and I thought I still had a couple of weeks.
Q. 1) Can we eat the eggs if the chickens are eating medicated chicken feed? (this kind http://poultry.purinamills.com/OURPRODUCTS/Products/StartGrow/default.aspx ) There is only a bit left in their feeder, and then we were going to switch it out.
Q. 2) I am not sure how long the eggs have been there (the nest was off in a corner). Weather here has been in the upper 70's-lower 80's. Is there a way to find out if they are still ok, or too old to safely eat? 3 were cool and 1 was very warm, like freshly laid.
I went ahead a put them in the fridge, but I dont want to eat them if it is not safe....
thanks!
