4-H question about faverolles

Quote:
I'm glad to hear that, I tried to do my research first, and she sounded like she would have great birds. I'm keeping tabs on the Faverolle thread. I'd like to do a good job raising and keeping them.

Its not tough they are very low matinence little birds. I love the Blue Salmons most of all I hope you get a good hatch mine should arrive today or tommorow and hatch near the end of the month. Glad you are keeping tabs on the faverolles thread people have said some really insightful and useful information on that thread.

As a 4h leader I can tell you for our county here in Oregon a student my show a bird from whatever breed they wish and as many as they wish... that is APA standard.. They may submit one Rooster and one hen and one pullet and one cockerel from a particular breed... If it is APA then it will be judged by that standard. If it is not APA then you student my show the bird under Non-standard...One Hen, one Rooster, one Cockerel and one Pullet. So even if you have a standard APA that doesn't meet the standard it can still win a blue in non-standard... like the faverolle doesn't have cheeks... It can still be shown as a mixed (non-standard) if everything else is correct. I hope this helps... Make sure to list ahead what you plan to bring as it is a daunting task to get the birds ready and get the forms all filled out... It would be great to get the "place cards" ahead so that you are ahead of the game so to speak... It is a lot to get organized if you are bringing a lot of birds.

Sidenote: If it is an APA standard and the color isn't show on the form.. it may be an oversight... There are soo many birds in sooo many colors. I would go ahead and show under the standard if it exists...otherwise show non-standard.
