4 H question

Ages 5 to 8 they can be a Cloverbud which basically means they can do most of the things the older kids can do, but are not allowed to compete or be judged. There are a lot of Cloverbud project books with a "explore this" theme to them where they get to do stuff without so much record keeping and what not.

Ages 8 and up they're full-fledged 4-H members.

Thanks, I've looked and couldn't find it anywhere. Well I guess we will have to wait two more years till he is 8.

This is what it says for our local 4-H
-------------------------------------------------

Who Can Join 4-H?
Membership in the Curry County 4-H program is open to all youth in grades K-12. Youth in grades K-3 may participate in the 4-H Adventures program. This non-competitive, group-oriented program allows youth to explore many topics such as natural resources, the community, foods, science, art and more.

Youth in grades 4-12 may join 4-H project or community clubs, which are led by volunteer leaders.

There are more than 50 projects available in the following curriculum areas:

•Animal Science
•Horticulture
•Natural Science
•Engineering
•Expressive Arts
•Home Economics
•Citizenship
•Leadership
•4-H Adventures

------------------------------------------------------------
So kids K-3 cant participate in the above topics. But they have a different group that does things and gets them prepared for regular
4-H

He may not have to wait. Ask your 4-H person at your local extension office about who is doing Cloverbuds.

Contact Danny Bullington at the Knox County Extension office and ask him about the Cloverbud program.

It's a great place to get kids started. Lots of fun, no stress from having to compete.
