I have been using BYC website for many years and have found it very helpful in raising my few hens. Happy to finally join BYC

Hi, welcome to BYC!

What breed of chickens do you have? There is a ton of information available here and lots of friendly, helpful members, so make yourself at home.

Nice to have you join us!

I have a 6 year old buff Orbitington, one 4 year old Americana and two year old Road Island Reds.

I put 7 fertilizes eggs , I got from my friend , under my brooding Buff Orbington They are do to hatch on July 23. I am not sure if I should separate her and the eggs from the other hens.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Be sure to check out the forum NorthFlChick linked for you. I usually like to keep the hen and eggs/chicks separate so other hens don't bother the broody, keep laying eggs in her nest etc and until the chicks are about a week old to be sure they are doing well. (Note, If you let the hen raise the chicks with the flock, you will also need to feed everybody a food that is OK for chicks, and make sure water is available they can drink and not fall in.) There are some broody hen threads you might like to check out https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...en-hatch-a-long-and-informational-thread/0_20 and https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/496101/broody-hen-thread/0_20 and a nice article on using broody hens https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/guide-to-letting-broody-hens-hatch-and-raise-chicks

Sending good hatching vibes your way
