I hope that your chick lives without any pain. If it isn't able to and you decide to cull, then you could use baking soda and vinegar. There is a thread on here about how to do it.. it is quick & painless. I had to put down a chick out of my first hatch...It went quickly but I cried forever, it seemed. I hope you do not have to use this info.

No offense intended.... i saw that " baking soda and vinegar" option.... i tried it...... it was awful.... the poor little guy was in there gasping for breath, i finally couldn't take it any more and did the deed with a towel and a knife, that was quick and painless, still freaked me out though. that is what i would do if i have to do it again

My question is do the toes move and when the other legs are walking do they walk too..???

If you do decide to cut the legs off......my vet did this to one of my chicks..it broke its leg...

He gave it a light dose of sleepy medicine..took a pair of side cut pliers..cut it off and then superglued the skin together to make a nub.

She jumped around for 2yrs then she passed..I miss my one legged chicken..Her name was POGO!

Yes, please post. I certainly hope you weren't offended by comments. We are all concerned about your chick and only hope the best for the little guy.

No offense taken.. Sorry that you had a bad experience with that method. I was warned to make sure that there was enough baking soda/ vinegar was used to cause lots of fizz. I tried it before place the chick in the air tight container. It took maybe 10 seconds.. It still wasn't easy. I cried so hard during and after. I hated it but my chick was suffering and I knew I would not be able to use a knife or scissors. It isn't for everyone. I just wanted to give the OP some options. I should have said to try it first before the chick to make sure it was ok.
