I hope that your chick lives without any pain. If it isn't able to and you decide to cull, then you could use baking soda and vinegar. There is a thread on here about how to do it.. it is quick & painless. I had to put down a chick out of my first hatch...It went quickly but I cried forever, it seemed. I hope you do not have to use this info.![]()
No offense taken.. Sorry that you had a bad experience with that method. I was warned to make sure that there was enough baking soda/ vinegar was used to cause lots of fizz. I tried it before place the chick in the air tight container. It took maybe 10 seconds.. It still wasn't easy. I cried so hard during and after. I hated it but my chick was suffering and I knew I would not be able to use a knife or scissors. It isn't for everyone. I just wanted to give the OP some options. I should have said to try it first before the chick to make sure it was ok.No offense intended.... i saw that " baking soda and vinegar" option.... i tried it...... it was awful.... the poor little guy was in there gasping for breath, i finally couldn't take it any more and did the deed with a towel and a knife, that was quick and painless, still freaked me out though. that is what i would do if i have to do it again![]()
