4 week old barred rock

Probably are pullets if they are 100% barred rocks due to darker feather pattern and dark wash on legs. Barred rock pullets can look very 'comby' and they have monstrous legs. Very easy to tell when you have the boys and girls together, but with just the girls you could easily think they were cockerels going from comb only.

Here is one of mine @ 4 weeks. Yours is way more developed. I would also agree Cockrel. What color are the legs? All creme or some black? Also, watch the wings.

Barred rock often get large combs compared to others their age. Male barred rock appear much whiter due to double barring. Your chicks are single barred meaning they are pullets. (crossed males can appear this way)

Question...when can I tell with Easter Eggers and Brahmas?
Some males will be obvious at this age (combs big and red compared to the females), but it can sometimes take months to be sure of females.

Dark Brahmas might be sexable by coloring at this point, but Light or Buff ones would not be.

Easter Eggers come in many colors. A few specific colors are male-only or female-only, and those can be sexed pretty early by the color of their feathers. Most others, you have to wait to tell by some other method (comb/wattles or saddle feathers or crowing or egg laying. Waiting until females lay eggs is pretty rare-- most them make their gender clear a lot sooner than that.)
