Two weeks ago one of my call duck babies had a "coughing fit" and shook his head and threw up what looked to be blood. I'm not entirely sure because the grit that I sprinkle in their pen is somewhat red.
Today and last night I've caught that baby in the middle of coughing fits twice. Nothing was thrown up though. It sounds like it's a really deep cough and he slightly "chews" with his bill after coughing.
Their water is always kept clean and deep enough to submerge their whole heads. I clean it several times a day. Any ideas? Is the grit I have seems to be really pointy and almost sharp so I've been wondering if it's fine or not. It's quartzite and granite. None of the other babies are coughing. This guy has had a record of sneezing a lot too. When I started giving him a daily bath for 20-25min, it helped I believe. He doesn't sneeze as much now.
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you!
