My little silky is in bad shape. I hope I can help her.
-she is the runt of 6 silks, She seemed a little weak in the first 3days we had her, but then seems to be fine after that. Then last week there was a an outbreak of feather picking, 4 chicks with bloody tail and wing feathers. I separated the group, they healed, but it happened again so I started using rooster boost pic no more which helped, I think. I also isolated the pickers and started introducing entertainment- like corn cobs and shiny things to pick at, - little birch log to climb on. I introduced another brooder box to separate them more and give them more space. About three days later I noticed the runt silkie was listless, strange posture, and she wouldn't lay down with the other chics, sleeping standing up, I isolated her in a nice cozy box of her own. After three days she wasn't worse or better. Ive seen her drink a little but not eat. Then I yesterday noticed her crop was really big and squishy. Took away food and water overnight , it hadn't emptied by morning, so I helped her vomit this morning. Don't think it was sour, yet. Also this am noticed she has a little messy poo stuck to her bum fluff. Actually, I guess some of the other chics have had liquidy dark green poo now and again, but they all act fine otherwise. Am I doing ok here? Might she have worms? Might the the pic no more lotion have made her sick, she seemed to have tried to clean it off herself whereas the other chics avoided the stuff. Not sure if the picking episode has anything to do with her condition. Like I said, she's seemed stable for three days or so, not worse not better. Poor little sweetie. I can't find any injury, don't think her legs look crooked, she is wobbly and sometimes uses her wings to hold herself up.

Well, never mind. She just passed. So sad. But all my googling and reading at back yard chickens will hopefully help me prevent this next time, Maybe, hopefully. not sure if a crop issue killed her or if the watery crop was a symptom of imminent death caused by another issue.
