The kittens were real curious. The chicks kept a close watch on them.

Welcome to BYC -- what adorable pictures. Gotta love both the furries and the feathers!

Our kittens and chickens grew up somewhat together. The kittens learned quite quickly (due to swift pecks from various sharp beaks) that the chickens didn't tolerate being messed with. By the time the kittens grew up, they had already decided that the chickens were boring and unappetizing; they could be out in the yard together without any problems.

The funniest thing would be to see the chickens and the cats lying together in the dirt of a flowerbed. The hens would be dustbathing, and once in a while a shower of dirt would rain down on a cat, making for some very annoyed feline looks. Ha ha!

The cats were random barn cats of a medium size. The hens were big, fat Rhode Island Reds and EEs.

My chickens and cat met each other as adults. My cat is actually terrified of the chickens.

I thought that these pictures were just too precious not to share them. It was funny how all four kittens made a bee line right to the temporary chick coop for a visit. I'm just glad that I had my camera handy! The kittens' mother gives our full grown 1 year old hen, Churkey, a very wide berth unless the hen goes near the kittens. Then there is a standoff.
