1) 4 WK polish doesn't feel lighter than usual.
2) her head falls forward when standing as though constantly falling asleep. When she eats and drinks she shakes her head and falls down backwards.
3) First noticed symptoms Thursday am (now Saturday 2days later).
4) No other birds exhibiting these symptoms.
5) No bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
6) The night pen has large pine shavings, day pen has sand. No other food given. Chicken was fine at bedtime Wednesday night woke up lethargic next am
7) She has been eating and drinking when she sees her cage mates doing so. Noticed her crop does not fill .
8) Poop looks Normal. No Blood.
9) so far I've given her 2 drops of polyvisol no iron vitamins 2x daily. 1 vitamin E 300IU once daily. Has access to grit. I've changed her from medicated starter to organic starter.
10 ) Any other suggestions on how to move forward?

  • Did you check already for lice or mites? They love crested birds.
  • Does she have unobstructed view at all times? often their crests grow too big and will impair their vision. Just saw her, she needs her head feathers trimmed back.
  • Feel her crop: is it bloated and squishy or rather hard?
  • Does she sneeze or or have a runny nose?
  • Check her breathing, does it sound raspy or laboured?

It is hard to know exactly what is gojng on with her, but the head shaking, stretching her neck, and swallowing something, looks like a possible respiratory disease. Those can be from a virus, bacteria, or fungus. Does she sneeze or cough, or have rattly breathing?

No lice, no mites. She can see fine. Her crest feathers point straight up. It's only cause her head is falling forward it may look like her feathers are obstructing her view but they're not 😉. I'm gonna post another video.
