Hi,

I have 4 chicks, two Silver Laced Wyandottes, and two Production Reds. One of the Wyandottes is noticably bigger than the other chicks, and seems to be developing wattles on his neck, but I'm not sure. I've uploaded a pic. Is this chick a rooster?

Also, if he is a rooster--we already have a rooster and a hen in our coop. Does one of them have to go?

Looks like a hen to me. Don't make the same mistake I did. As a total newb, I gave away 4 SLWs that I was SURE were roos. Turned out they were actually pullets.
As I always say, "Until it crows, one never knows!"

How old is he/she? I wouldn't guess boy just yet. And if you want to keep two roos that is fine if they get along...

Thanks everyone for your help. The chicken in question is 4 weeks old. I've uploaded another picture where you can see a little more of the wing, if this helps. My mom claims that she heard this chicken, if not crow, than make a noise she thought meant it was trying to crow, but I feel like they are too young. At what age should I expect it to crow if it's going to?
