4 weeks old eating sand

My about 3 and 6/7 week old chicks are Ina brooder and I put a sandbox in there for dust bathing but they seem to be eating it and they are still on medicated feed is this ok?

Yes, it is normal.

Chickens and other birds with a gizzard eat sand, pebbles, dirt, shells and other similar stuff to help grind their food. Also in the case of snails, crushed oyster shell, to get calcium.
