We have 10 chickens. All hens according to the store. One has developed a bigger thingy on the top of his head, and today I noticed he seems to have the same pinkish "jowls" for lack of a better word. Not a whole lot bigger and not making any more noise than the others, but that thing on his head has me thinking he is a rooster?? Can you tell this early? I uploaded a pic, but havent figured out how to attach it to this yet.

A pic would help, but I don't think you can post one until you've made 10 posts - so respond to 10 people's posts and try your picture then.
The "thingy" is the comb, and the "jowl" is the wattle. But females have these parts too. If it's a LOT larger than the others, and is pink (the others still yellowish), then I'd guess a rooster.

I'm sorry to say that does look like a little rooster. Sexing (even professsional hatchery sexing) is rarely 100%.

Agreed. His comb (on top of his head) and his wattles (under his chin) do kinda scream "ROO!"

here are some of the other chickies... they are outdoors in an enclosed windowed box that will be their nesting area when it gets warmer and coop gets done.

Well...I'm gonna' reserve judgement. My son swore up and down that my BA pullet HAD to be a rooster, her comb was so prominant. He STILL said it even after she began laying

So I'll cross my fingers for you...that you just have a "manly" pullet like my June Bug
