So, I thought 4 weeks is to early to know sex, but this little one is looking very convincingly male with large pink comb and red wattles. Am I jumping the gun in labeling him a he? Based on behavior I had been guessing this one was a she as (s)he's the most submissive of the whole brood.

Sorry for the crummy photos... Can't get any of them to stay still, least of all this one.

Thanks everyone! If he stays this docile and doesn't crow at stupid hours he might avoid the stockpot. I wasn't planning to keep any roosters, but the limiting factor will be waking up the neighbors and/or being aggressive.

I was worried I wouldn't know who were roosters before they start crowing and are due to meet the pot. I had images in my head of hiding out next to their coop in the wee hours of the morning trying to see who's making the racket so I don't butcher the wrong chicken... I get the feeling that's not going to be necessary as they're showing visible signs so early and still have several months to get more obvious. There's two others with larger and/or pinker than average combs who I'm guessing are also roos-in-the-making which makes 3/10. There's probably a few more hiding out in the batch, but we'll see.

P.S. Asa says thank you for y'all's kind comments about his appearance. He's still a little self conscious about being in his awkward teenager stage.
