Sorry guys, but been really busy, and hadn't checked this thread in a while. So I'll try and answer your questions.
This morning, I got around to weighing a pen of my quail breeders (13 weeks old). 6 hens ranged from 11.2 oz to 12.6 oz, with 4 of the 6 being 12oz or over, and the roos were at 9.7 and 10.2oz. I have one Golden hen who weighs right at 13 oz. I also have some young males coming up that look to be bigger than any of my older males. So, they aren't HUGE, but definitely nice sized. Like everyone else, we're working towards a bigger bird. We're after that elusive 1 lb'er!
The cages, we built ourselves. I have 12 pens with 11 being full of quail right now.
