48hr Poultry/egg Auction

Quote:
I bid $5.00.

I HAVE to request, if I win, turn "toss" into "gently and carefully nestle into the box with the others". lol

Yup, I agree, the reserves haven't been outrageous, IMO. I have noticed more of the smaller batches of eggs though, probably because people want to be so cheap. I try to stay away from anything under a dozen, because of shipping hazards, and because shipping jacks the price per egg up when you do small egg orders. I don't think this auction will die, or at least I certainly hope not. But, I'd love for my darned birds to start laying fertile eggs so that I can be on the selling side instead... Less chance of hubby strangling me if I'm getting rid of them instead of buying them, lol.

I agree, I also would rather have more than one dozen eggs sent, though I have had many eggs sent to me that were 12+ that had most if not all of them develop, then I have had some sent with 6-8 eggs that had all of them scrambled. I think it all has to do with how they are packaged. If I had more than 2 or 3 hens laying, I would offer more eggs! And I don't have any other pure breeds that are old enough to lay

I wonder if you could get any interest in a mixed lot, with added buttons or ducks? Would cut out people who have one incubator and no hatcher, but, maybe it would spark someone's interest? Not saying that you have to, just trying to think of ways to help sellers sell their eggs without them getting ripped off, lol.

ETA: Actually, looking at your eggs available now, I'd probably bid on a 6+ of your chickens with some button eggs added, lol. I should strangle myself now, save hubby the trouble, lol. The cochins are terrible. I was going to keep ONE cochin chick, now, every cochin and cochin mix I've come across, I get soooo attached to.

I've done those before on the other auction thread, but there just doesn't seem to be all that much interest in a mixed batch. Sometimes there is, but most times not. That's okay though, I could always set them myself, I believe I have a few empty spaces left in the old bator!
