I found this news report while working and thought if anybody can/ would be able to help it would be BYCer's. To put the story short a cock fighting ring was raided and 49 roosters were taken. Some were already dead when they arrived. Now they have all of these roosters in a Cleveland, OH SPCA. I know it is a very long shot because people see "fighting animal" and no one wants it. Just because these roosters were used to fight doesn't mean they are bad or hopeless. Yes, some maybe so aggressive they can never be re-homed but there maybe the few that can have a second chance. We all know roosters fight sometimes and it is the same with these guys. With out their fighting blades they are just roosters. With out humans throwing them in a pen and tormenting them they wouldn't fight to the death. It's like with the pitbull fighting rings. Some are not able to be saved but some want a second chance and find happiness even though they have suffered so greatly. I just wanted to draw this to everyone's attention. I know they won't all be saved but if a few are able to find happiness I feel like something good came out of this disgusting situation. You may not agree with my point of view but I believe all animals are good. It is human influences and abuse that make them "bad". I will hopefully be going to volunteer so they actually have a poultry person there and not just "city folk" (no offense). We'll see how this turns out.....

Surprisingly good news about this case. They found a farm to take all of the roosters! I am genuinely surprised someone took all of them. Good to see a happy ending :).

It is so good to hear that despite the inhumane ways in which some animals are treated by us humans that stories such as you have posted can and do have a positive outcome.

I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face to the positive fact that these Roosters can have a hopefully normal life without the need to kill to survive....

Thank you for your post and for bringing this to our attention...

I am also so relieved. It is nice to hear about this story had a happy ending. I will admit I was sure they would have killed over half of them. I don't know why people want to see roosters kill each other. I think just the normal day to day issues of chickens are far more exciting. My friends and I have even bet on which chicken is going to try to get the dominant roosters lady! lol. I find that much more fun and its more like watching a soap opera than anything
