Well we got a surprise from our daughters today!
Both of them brought birds with them for Marys birthday and had me hustling around to get brooders set up for some of the surprise guests!!
One daughter brought three Barred Rocks "to replace the two pullets that turned out to be roos, five of what she said were Amerucanas??" only four are hers the four Mary decides she don't want go to the grandkids!
Our other daughter also brings us seven Cochin chicks and four Guinie keets for me, "why I get birds on my wifes birthday is beyond me"!
Mary is getting her BCM's this week and I had one brooder all set and ready, now we will need three brooders one for the Cochins, one for the Keets and one for the BCM's that should be here later this week weather permitting.
So I spend the next few hours running around and get two set up and ready and then get the older chicks set up in a coop and run with her bantoms who are about the same size but a bit older tempararily.
Any way here is the new crew at the homestead,
The itty bitty babies first
The Cochin chicks,
A couple quick pics,
From what I have read and going by the length of the wing feather is appears she got two cockerels one black and one buff along with five pullets two black and three buff, I am unsure of how accurate this method is but it said it was fairly accurate for the Cochins
My Guinie Keets
Two Pearl and a white,
My Lavender
A better pic of my white
Now the bigger ones,
The Barred Rocks, "they brought three but Mary gets one and two are going to the grand kids when they get their coop built,
They also got 5 Amerucanas?? two of which are also the grand kids Mary gets to keep three she likes.
Well what do you think? any suggestions on the Rock and three Amerucanas we should pick out of the bunch??
