Woke up this morning to my 4 week old coturnix instigating fights to the point of blood. I removed the instigator and then saw another bird mounting a suspected female. Not all of these birds are feather sexable, but some are already producing foam.

Is it normal to have birds mature early like this? I live in the south so long, hot days may be contributing. Other than an extra aggressive bird, do I need to be concerned about anything with early maturing?

The long days contribute to the early sexual maturity. Six weeks is average, but just like people, there are early and late bloomers.

Sounds like it's time for you to start separating your males out. If you can keep them where they can't see or hear the females there is a lower chance of violence. You still have to watch for fighting, but it does help some.
