We brought this little girl home last Thursday. She was a little pasty on Saturday but wiped right clean with a warm rag. Yesterday evening she was a little pasty again, cleaned it again. Same thing this morning and lunch. Now, her vent is clear on the surface but her abdomen is completely swollen. She was really lethargic for a while. I've separated her into her own box with the heat lamp, a little food and grit, and fresh water. She's finally chirping after being quiet all day but her poor bum is so swollen and she hasn't pooed at all in the 45min since we removed her.

Hubby tried to clear her with an olive oil dipped qtip but it didn't make any observable difference. The vent is externally clear.

Help!

She's a cherry egger, if that matters at this age. She's been in the brooder with an EE shipment-mate and 4 chicks about weeks older. Everyone else seems fine so far - we're watching closely of course. One of them had pasty bum pretty bad when she was tiny but recovered after a few days and is now strong and mostly feathered out.
