can someone pls help me. I am bottle feeding a baby goat that wasn't having much luck with nursing on mama and so I ended up feeding him with a dropper. things were going well til night before last. he kept going to the water bowl (my dogs) after he had his goats milk (i milk the mama). he became bloated and before I realized it. I didnt know what was wrong til that afternoon. I've tried baking soda and even polyethlen.

One of mine was bloated and we also did backing soda water in a bottle. We also fave her a (this may sound crazy but we were desperate she couldn’t even walk she was bad). Fleet liquid enema. It helped her pas the bass and she was standing within minutes..

You can try a little vegetable oil, too...try maybe a tablespoon over an hour or so. NOT mineral oil (tasteless and they can aspirate/choke on it). If it's a frothy bloat the oil will kill the bubbles and help resolve things. Also keep the head and shoulders a little elevated above rump...as if he's standing on a little platform. This will help him burp and hopefully relieve the pressure.

I did give him a little bit of vegetable oil in a little cup and he put his mouth on it I don't know how much you drank I didn't have the correct dropper to put some in his mouth without forcing it in his throat I went to the tractor supply and got some goat Bloat I Only have been able to get out an ounce in him so far. I'm willing to try anything. I've gotten sooo attached to this baby. I thank everyone for all the help

For bloat I always used GasX after a neighboring goat dairyman told me about it. I don't know if there is a "correct" dosage but I just poked a tablet down their throats. People tell you to use oil but if you get any in the lungs you may have cured the bloat but in the process you have killed the goat. A dose of entertoxemia antitoxin is a good idea too. I have seen entero in very young kids. But the GasX is your first defense. The kid should deflate very quickly, like within 20 minutes or so.

This is good to know.. our babies are almost a year old now and I am still learning about goats. I was raised around cows and know alot there but not in the goat category
