5 day old chick dying

My incubator chick I posted about on Monday who was the only one that hatched got so sick yesterday and now hanging on by a thread , he was fine eating and drinking , heatlamp , mirror for company and teddy , then yesterday he just went downhill fast , i gave him water with syringe bit of sugar in it , cut sweetcorn into tiny bits and he ate it , turned the heatlamp off cause the room temperature was hotter yesterday, but he still just got worse , now hes just gasping , his vent is clear he was pooing grand to , but gasping breaths now , hes going to pass but what might have caused it ?

I know I am too late to help but I am sorry for your loss. It could be a million things. They are so delicate yet hardy little things. It is so hard to say. I am so sorry.

Yes. It must have been very difficult for you. There is an article under the educational threads on how to euthanize poultry. It is very informative and as it says educational for those of us who were like me not informed on the most effective and most painful ways to dispatch a chick or bird in the most humane method when needed. It really was helpful to me. It might help you. Just go to the education articles and do a quick search if you choose to and It should be easy to find. Again I am so sorry about your chick.
