5 day old chicks on pine shavings

I need to switch mine from paper towels w/shavings under to just shavings..
but I love the ease of cleaning the paper towels....

I have never bothered with paper. All of my chicks go straight onto shavings from day one. Yeah they'll scratch and pick through it but so long as they know where the feed is at and it's not spoiled or something they won't eat the shavings. I've got 120 on the stuff right now.

Yeah, I loved the ease of the paper towels, too.
But I keep them on the shavings because they love to dig and scratch.
So I give up my comfort for their pleasure, I guess.

I have mine on shavings since day one,no problems here.Its been almost two weeks.Might see if gruesome(surrogate hen) will accept them.
