5 day old EE pullet was the most happy and inquisitive out of all my 4 other week old babies. This morning she started shaking her head and sneezing. There was no nasal discharge, eyes and nose were clear. Her crop was not full. She was active, eating, drinking pure unsalted well water with apple cider vinegar (ACV) and acting normal. I did notice that she was not pooping like the others. Minimal amounts and infrequently and only the white topped kind. I just went to check on her and while I was watching she convulsed three times and died. I need to mention she was purchased from a reliable feed store that had just received their shipment a few hours before I went in. Do I need to do something to the other 4 girls who are acting normal (at the moment)?

I lost around 20 chicks to coccidiosis trying to raise them organically.... finally buckled down and now feed ALL chicken chicks with medicated feed for the first few weeks..problem solved for me.

If this "is"(?) your problem too,..you will likely loose them all, if you don't get some medicated feed into the remaining chicks.

Thank you for responding.

Sorry for your loss. It is hard to know for sure what was wrong, but they can have shipping stress from their time in the mail before delivery to feed stores. Did she have any signs of pasty butt? I would get some Poultry NutriDrench and give each one a drop or two orally for a couple of days, and dip the beaks of the remaining chicks into water.

TSC will be my first chore in the morning to pick up Poultry NutriDrench. I have five 6 - 8 week old pullets already in the coup. I want to make sure these new babies are healthy before merging the two groups. Thank you for your reply.
