Needing advice! First time chicken owner- yesterday I noticed one chicken has foamy discharge (sorry no photo of foam) from one eye along with this sore on left side of the eye (see photo). She is generally acting normal- have not noticed nasal discharge, sneezing, or coughing. Or any other noticeable sores… is this fowl pox? A cold? It’s only from one eye. And my other 6 hens of the same age show no signs. Grateful for advice!

Have you seen any mosquitoes out lately? This could be fowl pox. A peck wound could also be the problem. Are there any bubbles in her eye?
We live in Texas so always have mosquitoes, although it’s been cool lately so haven’t seen very many. Yes, she has bubbles/foamy clear discharge from the one eye!

No one else showing symptoms. No runny nose. Haven’t noticed bullying, she is higher in the pecking order

If it is fowl pox, it is a virus spread by mosquitoes that last about 3 weeks. Most recover with no treatment. You can clean the eye with a little saline and apply some Terramycin or plain Neosporin ointment into the eye twice a day.
