My Shaver Red is having problems with egg laying it seems that it lays ok for about 5 days and then 2 days of yolk and very soft shell. My white leghorn seems to be ok for the most part.

I change the water every morning and there food is laying feed one can 12oz and a hand full of oyster shell then feed and oyster shell you know....... I was thinking to switch to just oyster shell for a day or so to see if that helps. Any Ideas...

Thanks

have you thought about letting her free feed on both. Just fill up the feeder and let her eat as much as she wants and have the oyster shell available in a seperate container for her to eat when she wants. I would not feed her just oyster shell as its just a source of calcium, not something they can live on.

I've also read on this forum about giving them 'greens' Is she able to free range at all or is she just in a coop and run?
