well, in yall's opinion is it a flystrike or tumor or ?????? at least she eating and drinking some... her poo has some yellow in it doesnt that mean an infection ???

Is she getting any better? The image is hard to tell. I would continue to try to get rid of the maggots by bathing her. Sorry I can't offer any other advise. Never seen this before.

YES she better has to cut heck lot off her butt feathers.... it took 3 sessions hope got them all She has her TAIL up..... She just now jumped off the table to come close to me I guess to get my attention.. BOREDOM
But she still has loose poop some yellow some green.... I am trying to squirt her with a clean syringes of ditilled wtr. after most poos. I bought some Orgainic wound spray at Tractor Supply expensive.
SO should I give her dose of Valzaben??????

Hubby took her poo samples... thin poos samples to local vet. They called yesterday while Hubby was trying to go someewhere before they closed.The Vet ask like it was beneath him to even mess with a CHICKEN and say what is "flystrike?"
I forgot to ask them to print out what the results were... I believe she said something about worms it was some but not lots of cant remember the type she said.. I dont know why they couldnt have checked for infection too. called while ago before they closed at NOON and sent Hubby hurriedly before they closed at noon. No one could find any notes...... about the results Hope I hear from them Monday.
Hubby wants to let her outside but I say wait.... she is going stir crazy. She is such a good chicken girl.... I have her on the table by the window.. so she can see outside..... but not the back where hermates are.. she can hear them some....
I am still flushing her mostly after every poo.... I just hate trying to clean poo off the hardwood floor seams...
One lady told my husband to just use Blue coat... Heck Im scared that not good enough..

Glad to hear the girl still has life in her. It's sad that some vets think of companion animals strictly as dog and cats. That said, it is only some of them. You've go to get rid of those maggots. If you let her out the other chickens may start pecking at her wound. Let us know what the results of her test say.

she does walk around some with her tail up....

A vet assistant called last Friday and I went by Monday to get paper work that said" some Cecal worms" from last Friday test.....
I syringes or squirt her butt several times a day with distilled water and spray on that organic Wound Spray.. she hates it...
her poo is not runny now. She has been inside now for 9 days.....
she is bored silly. she has the run of a small windowed room near basement walk out door... put tart, curtain, up etc to keep her off the counters and out of the rest of th basement rooms. she enjoys sleeping on top of th freezer lid....
Course she whines to go outside. she can see out side sitting on top of a cooler next to a tall 3 ft wide window.. But unfortuntely she cant see the rest of her "SISTER GIRLS" and "Roo Roo."..
been bringing in some grass etc
It will prob be hard to get her accustomed with out air condition etc.... and intergrating her back in with her Six Sister Girls....
and the older group of 3 hens.....

YAAAY that's great news

Have you thought of providing your girl with a few toys like making holes in a small clear juice bottle, filling it with seed and letting her try get the seeds out? I don't know how an adult hen would respond to a mirror...... Reintroducing to the flock can be tricky. You'll probably have to put her in a crate or something outside for a few days so they can see each other. Depending on how they respond to her will guide you as to when it will be safe to let her out.

Well done! You did a great job nursing her

She may not get all her bum fluff feathers if there is scarring, but there should be sufficient t maintain her dignity when she returns to the flock
