I am hoping someone who has raised Buffs can give me piece of mind.
I am posting a pic of Fluff, one of my new Buff chicks.
5 months old, and SHE (I hope) is sporting a big comb. She is bigger than my other one. She does not have tail feathers, or spurs to mention, but that comb! She has not attempted to crow, but bawks like my other hens. All my Buffs have pointier saddle feathers, so that does not seem to be an indicator.
Could she still be a Roo?

Here she is as a side view (sorry, had to take them with my phone this morning).

Here is her "siser", the other chick we got at the same time.
This one looks more like a roo to me. I am hoping both are hens
in the end. My other Buff kept us on our toes until she laid an egg.
Neither of these two are crowing, but they do do that throaty
"gawking" in the morning, otherwise they coo like a hen.

I see two pullets there as far as I can tell. There is nothing cockerel-like about them.

Thanks :). So far, still no crowing. The one with the big comb also squats down when you go to pick her up, my son SWEARS that means she is a girl :).

WE HAVE AN EGG!!!

The one with the large comb laid an egg this morning :).

One down, one to go.
