i recently added some new nest boxes for my coop for my new 8 chicks and my old chickens and they like to roost kinda on the roof about 10 feet from the ground and they knock each other down and this chick couldnt get up right when she fell. so she was acting werid seperating herself in the pen so i thought it was her wing that was hurt its not broke but she doesnt want to move it and it hangs down.
ok so that was a couple days ago i recently started handling them last night and i got something that smelled like vinegar on me it was gross it was there fluid/ food leaking in there crop there was a a hole that opened up like a window shutter so i disinfected it with peroxide becuase this is going to get digested and i sewn it up. this happened before i didnt numb it or anything becuase i didnt have the time but what should i give it for pain baby aspirin or something so far its in a cage seperated with a little bit of food so it soent stuff itself and expand again.
im gonna have to put another piece of sheeting where there nest is ill show you what it looiks like
see rifht up where the roof is i diding completly case it in becuase i didnt know what angle to cut it becuase i didnt have any power tools except a cicrcular saw when i made this a year ago. but they roost up on that t1-11 and since it has a wire floor i think it make have been sharp or something.
this winter when they go in the other winter coop im gonna tear that wire out and put some flooring in and deep liter method with some siding about a foot high around the coop where the floor is. i thought wire would be eaier for cleaning but now i have to lift the coop up with my bobcat and it weakens it so it was a dumb idea of mine
