5 month old Silkies hens or roos?

No one has crowed but there is a feisty one (one of the black) that will peck at me when I try and pick him up and sometimes confronts me when I go near them...I just noticed he has a comb starting and the others don't. They seem much more docile than him. Would be great if the rest were hens!

Any update to what they ended up being? I have a trio of black silkies and a splash that look so similar and about the same age yours were and they still have me guessing.

I would recommend posting a new thread with photos of your birds individually with good side photo showing crest and head on photo showing any comb. Several people on BYC would be happy to help you try to identify the genders.

Lol I just came across this post that fit my situation and attempted to ask the original poster if they happened to remember what they ended up being. If I cared that much I’d make my own post like Ive done in the past. I was just curious. I should have investigated their entire profile to see if they still were active before asking an apparently dumb question. Thank you so much for your help tho.

No questions are dumb here! Just trying to be helpful. Many people add on to older threads not realizing how old they are, especially with the recent upgrades in the BYC platform.
You should be able to tell by now if you have male or female birds at 5 months of age. Silkies are late layers. Mine started around 7 months of age. My cockerel started crowing though at around 4 months of age. Good luck with your birds!
